BOX SCORE

EL CAJON, Calif. - Junior Greg Murray went 12-for-15 from the field and 3-of-4 from long-range to score 27 points and lead PLNU over Holy Names 96-65 Saturday. It was the second straight win for the Sea Lions (2-2) at the Hawks Classic hosted by San Diego Christian.

The entire PLNU team shot lights out against HNU, tallying a 67 percent average. The Sea Lions also controlled the paint Saturday. They outrebounding the Hawks 38-21 and scored 54 points inside to just 20 from HNU. The Sea Lions also made six threes and were 16-for-24 at the stripe.

Holy Names (1-3) shot 42.6 percent but could not slow down the Sea Lion attack. Point Loma received contributions from the entire line up in the win, four of whom scored in double figures: James Hancock had 17 points; Marek Klassen added 14 points to go with six assists and three steals and Hayden Lescault put in 10 points.

HNU and Point Loma traded leads for the first few minutes of the non-conference tilt, but a run late in the opening stanza put the Green and Gold in front 37-27 with two minutes remaining. The Sea Lions added to the lead and went into the break ahead 42-29.

PLNU's lead continued to swell throughout the second stanza, reaching 36 with two minutes left in the game. The gap was 31 at the final buzzer.

The Sea Lions have a few days off before heading up the coast to take on Saint Mary's on Thursday in an exhibition match that begins at 7:00 pm. PLNU plays their first game of the year in Golden Gym two days later when they host Black Hills State (SD) Saturday at 8:00 pm. The game is part of Point Loma's Homecoming festivities.
