PACWEST CHAMPIONSHIPS:
The Point Loma men's and women's tennis teams will head to Hawaii in search of the first Pacific West Conference titles in school history. The tournament is set up as a double elimination, eight-team bracket which will run from opening rounds on Thursday to the championship matches on Saturday. The men's team received the No. 6 seed in the draw and will face No. 3 Fresno Pacific on Thursday, Apr. 18 at 11:30 a.m. The Sea Lion women are also the No. 6 seed in their bracket and will face No. 3 Grand Canyon on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.

THE DRAW:
The men's draw will feature seven teams. Hawaii Pacific is the No. 1 seed after going 16-4 on the season. Azusa Pacific, who is the No. 2 seed, will enter the championships undefeated at 20-0. Fresno Pacific, PLNU's first round opponent, is 14-6 on the year. Grand Canyon is the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 BYU-Hawaii in the first round. Hawaii Hilo rounds out the bracket as the No. 7 seed.
On the women's side Hawaii Pacific grabbed the top seed after going 12-1 on the season. BYU-Hawaii is the No. 2 seed. BYUH has won 12 straight matches and finished the regular season with a 21-1 record. Others seeds include Grand Canyon at No. 3, Fresno Pacific at No. 4, Azusa Pacific at No. 5, Academy of Art at No. 6 and Dominican at No. 8.
A LOOK AT THE PLNU MEN:
The Sea Lions will enter the PacWest Championships with a 7-15 record and looking to snap a four-game losing skid. Last time out they barely missed upsetting undefeated Vanguard (22-0) as they lost two out of three doubles and fell in the match 5-4. This season PLNU has gone 1-6 against PacWest opponents in match play. They have dropped two matches apiece to Fresno Pacific and Azusa Pacific. The Sea Lions win was a 9-0 sweep of Hawaii Hilo.
Kaptan Kaster leads Point Loma with an 11-10 record in singles play.
Daniel Milliken also has 11 victories in singles play.
Brooks Baldinger, who has played the No. 1 singles spot in 16 times this season, is 7-12 on the season.
Bram Kevelaerts has been the top doubles player with a 10-11 mark.
A LOOK AT THE PLNU WOMEN:
PLNU has alternated wins and losses over its last six matches to enter the PacWest Championships with a 9-14 record. In their last match the Sea Lions defeated Vanguard 8-1. This season Point Loma went 2-5 against PacWest foes with wins against Academy of Art (6-3) and Hawaii Hilo (9-0).
Senior Wileen Chiu and junior Sharon Reibstein have the best records in singles play for PLNU. Reibstein is 13-7 on the season and Chiu is 13-9 after winning four of her last five matches. No. 1 singles player Maika Adair has posted a 10-12 in the top spot. She has won three straight and four of her last five. Fellow senior Kiersten Steinhauer has the best doubles record for the women with an 11-8 mark.
