Karol Zak enters his first year as Head Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2024-25. He returns to Point Loma after a year training Active and Retired Navy SEAL's with a focus on strength, performance and recovery.
He previously worked at Point Loma as Assistant Sports Performance & Strength and Conditioning Coach in 2023, assisting in the development of athletes on the tennis, soccer and track & field teams.Â
Additionally, he previously served at Point Loma as a Graduate Assistant while completing a Master of Science in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Sports Performance.
During his time as a Graduate Assistant, he worked as the lead strength coach for the women’s basketball team, designing and implementing programming in order to improve power output, athletic ability and vertical jump height.
Prior to his time at Point Loma, Zak earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from San Diego State University, specializing in Fitness.
He also served for eight years in the United States Army where he became a Certified Master Fitness Trainer, serving in the rehabilitation and reconditioning of soldiers.
After his exit from the service, Zak worked for the Jackson Strength Academy where he worked individually with athletes for the purpose of achieving their sport specific goals and preventing injury.
He then moved on to intern in Athletic Performance at UC San Diego, where he assisted Performance Coaches with the management and development of over 150 athletes in sports such as tennis, water polo, rowing, track & field, volleyball and soccer.
Zak is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
